Happy Thanksgiving!
Okay people…not to be rude or anything, but this is getting to be a little ridiculous! 2 comments over the last post??? Are you kidding me? What else do we have to do…I mean Britt and Taya threw themselves out of a plane for god sakes… we just give, give, give and you just take, take, take! Anywho now that, that is out of our systems…we will let you know what we’ve been doing. So, after Mission Beach we hopped on our OZ BUS!!!! We actually did…we all growed up!! Lol. We are so happy that we are travelling this way as it was soon apparent after our driver immediately calling us ‘frozen americans’, that having fun wasn’t going to be a question. They are very helpful in booking and planning anything-accommodations, trips…basically whatever we need. Always keeping a close eye on the easily distracted Canadians…often hearing “come on Canada!” with a little tap on the shoulder!!! Our buses so far have been exactly those of Greyhound but bright yellow with music pumping…so we supposedly ‘cannot miss it’…but anything is possible!!! From mission Beach to Townsville ( about 2.5 hr drive), a large mining community that is very industrial and not much to look at quite frankly. But beyond a mountain lies Magnetic Island, which we immediately ferried over to. Only had 2 nights at Base backpackers, so not much time to do much. Upon our arrival, we were all greeted by a formidable scent that was too familiar- The moose head, The pump and perhaps, a perhaps a little splash of Sarcan!! But past the bar we were soon in awe of the little beachfront oasis. The dorms were actually huts along the beach lined with palm trees and huge boulders. This was definitely our most ‘party’ hostel but of course we separated ourselves…being poor and all!!! We would rather spend our money on activities than a mad hangover! We hiked Forte’s walk… a site that was used for battle and to watch for incoming enemies in WWII. It was up a mountain side in crazy heat..Taya was a little uneasy when the first sign on the trail was a picture and info about the poisonous snakes…wonderful!!! Briana and Brittany were a little on edge when they had to venture out when ‘nature called’ if you know what I mean!!!lol. It literally scares the piss out of you when you know there could be a poisonous snake lurking nearby! Taya, surprise, surprise…held it! We then went to scout out Koalas, upon arrival we saw $17/person…and we opted out…we figure we could just cuddle Shadow Lewis-Kondratoff ( Taunya’s dog). No really, we were excited but thought we would just see them at the Steve Irwin zoo, we need to mentally prepare…we heard they are vicious! J In summary…Magnetic Island…we waited 2 hrs 1st bus, ran after 2nd bus ( and missed…not the Ben Johnson start that we needed, hey Trevor?), waited another hour 3rd bus, 4th bus flew by us…apparently full…thanks for the heads up, waited another hour for 5th bus…good thing we bought the $6.50 day pass hey??? And finally, 6th bus the last day back to the ferry…right time, right bus…wrong side of the road!!! Damn it!! But once again the OZ Ex driver looked out for Canada. Jumped back on the Oz bus south towards Airlie Beach. We passed through Bowen, a town where the movie Australia was filmed…they even painted Bowenwood on the water tank! Lol. 3 hrs later we arrived in Airlie Beach, where the one and only Mathew McConaugh drank the pubs after filming Fool’s Gold here…in 2007...damn it 2 years too late! Beautiful sailing community..our favourite town yet! Can’t explain the beauty, we will take tons of pictures. Tomorrow get on “British Defender” to sail the WhitSundays for 2 days and 2 nights… can’t wait! Will update you when we get back. From there we head to Kroombit, there we get to make Saskatchewan proud…mechanical bull, goat rodeo and all....who knows maybe we will ride a kangaroo!!!! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving...we had rice and tuna...jerks! Love you all...PLEASE write...it is always nice to hear what's happening there! :)

Hi Girls, glad to hear you stayed on the ground.Iam so jealous... The WhitSundays!..would love to do that, maybe some day(sigh). I think you guys forget that most normal mortal days are filled with the mundane. Hence the lack of correspondence. Don't feel too bad about the turkey, I didn't get any either. Stupid work!!Gotta go, scrub floors, make beds & numerous other menial tasks that define life here!!!! I'm not trying to make you feel guilty for having all this fun & adventure.. It's just easy for me take care, miss you tons. love mom xoxo
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving girls. Things to be thankful for.. family. food a roof over your head etc. Things NOT to be thankful for. the weather here.. has been cold here & snow. Can't stand it. Don't know what I'll do once winter really comes. Glad that you are giving us updates on where you have been & where you are going next. That way I can check out everything & maybe find new things to worry about haha. Im sure that you'll have funat Whitsundays, I checked out the sailing excursion. You could have picked the relaxing tour as opposed to the sports expert tour. Actually the British Defender looks like something that you would really enjoy. The one that is quite challenging & high adrenalin. I also checked out the marine life.. watch out for the jellyfish. Kroombit seems like it will be a lot of fun. Glad to see that they provide helmets. One less thing for me to fret about. Just kidding. As for the poisonous snakes.... you could have done what I would do... let someone else check them out while I walk around in the parking lot. Really that's what I did when we went to Rapid City. We spent a very quiet Thanksgiving. You probably ate better than us. I had ichiban soup & a cheese bun with Renauldo.Melissa & Mikayah are coming back this week sometime. Mikayah called yesterday. Dad talked to her as I was over at Mel's. She has booked her trip I guess-now is working any extra hours she can. She'll have a great time . Very glad that she decided to join you girls. Well that's about it around here. Love you Mom & Dad
ReplyDeleteHey Hey!!
ReplyDeleteNot alot going on here...Stanley and I are pretty boring. Only thing going on is work, which has been busy. Alot of transfers out of Arcola and the odd one out of Kipling this week as well. A fair amount of locals also...for some crews. Ha. Since Brianna and Melissa are both on excursions to far away places, I had to venture out in search of another beauty styler - soo...while on a wait in Regina the other day - decided to visit the first salon that could maybe get me (and Curtis) in...well...that happened to be First Choice Hair Cuts or some dumb thing. Bad choice. Haha. I got the 3/8 special - all around and Curtis ended up with a new cowlick. LOL. The lady was shaking by the time Curtis was up - her nerves were shot or something she told him -- probably not a good sign.
Yah, that's it for adventure. Sounds like you guys are having a blast still.
Stano is alright. Macee has become his saviour for bathroom breaks.
Yup, other than that - nothing going on.
Keep up the fun!
Later
Lennie & Stano
Hey Ladybirds! I am sorry that we are all so boring! Our lives revolve around reading your posts! Yikes! That's sad! Taya's mom pretty much said it! You probably ate better than me too! No turkey for this girl! Working straight through with split shifts. I really wouldn't mind it if it was BUSY! But no, one table through lunch today! Got a lot of cleaning done though! Watched the kids the other night! They have trouble going to sleep. So I kept walking down the hall to see if Josh was sleeping, and of course he wasn't. I eventually said "Josh, go to sleep!!!" The reply "I would, but you keep coming to my room and waking me up again!!" Oops! Learned my lesson! He is a smart little dude! Assembles Bionicals all by himself! I tried to help him once and gave up 2 minutes in! He also starts my movies for me! (By the way, he just turned 7) Payten is 9 and struggles to clean her room :) I offer to help but she really has no interest in cleaning it so does not accept my offer! So... as you can see I don't have an exciting life! Living with Erin has been awesome! Erin and the kids bought my Betty Crocker icing and teddy grahams last night because I missed the turkey (jealous Brittany?) It was really cute! Well, better get going! I don't really understand where you are heading to or what you are doing but it sounds cool! Wish I could be there!
ReplyDeleteLove Chels
Rule #3 No wandering through jungles with poisonous snakes. Even if nature calls.
ReplyDeleteAnd since my previous post went unnoticed and unappreciated I will write another one. Where to start..while Chelsea and mom missed out on Thanksgiving I had turkey gallore. Don't worry, I ate enough for all of you. Greg and I are working on the garage today so the dogs don't have icicles hanging from their noses in the morning (we need to finish insulating before we can turn the furnace on out there.)
Other than that pretty uneventful, but I did notice that Chels really pepped up her comment with the use of exclamation! marks!! So I will try this also and make things sound more exciting! Izzy is on a diet! She doesn't like it so we think she is just refusing to eat! I am back to work tomorrow! We have a ton of snow here! I think that it is melting, but not very fast!
So, I wrote you 2 comments in a row! That should get me some brownie points, and P.S. you guys are kinda slacking on the blogs...just sayin..
Better get back to work (that's what we do back in Canada, if you don't remember)
Sorry to break it to you, but I think you have to pay to see/pet the Koala's at Steve Irwin's zoo too....at least in 2006 you did.
ReplyDeleteBut, if you head down to Syndey area go to Featherdale Wildlife Park (another zoo)...where you can pet and get photos with them for free!!
Haven't been to many of the places you're talking about now, but they sound really cool....maybe worth another visit from me?!?!
Keep up the posts....they're keeping my travel bug alive!!
Hey girls - I've still been reading your blog I just never have anything to report on this end... lol. I work and go to the gym, nothing exciting!
ReplyDeleteI've met two new babies lately! Jenna's (born Sept 22) and Whitney's (Oct 5)! Both are super sweet and so cute <3
We had an awesome Thanksgiving supper at the farm. Ate too much and then ate leftovers all day yesterday!
You guys wouldn't want to trade your warm weather for our yummy food though, it feels so cold here! Starting to think about Christmas shopping :(
Anyway I better get to work! Later gators!
Hey there, shaodw would love a cuddle. his new fav thing to do is sit on top of the couch, and stare out the front window. He misses you!! Sounds like you guys are having a great time. saw the first picture on facebook, you girls are looking good. Everyone here is good. Nolan's going away supper tonight, then I am off to Broadview to work a shift, then.....I think we will put up Christmas lights before it gets too cold. Flash is getting big fast!

ReplyDeleteI am following & as many commented above, life is pretty mundane here by comparison.
ReplyDeleteAnd my writing skills are not nearly as cool! Remember, we're out there for you -- even if you don't always hear from us.
Heading to Rae-Ann's for a couple of weeks.
Enjoy your holiday! I am.
Hey Hey Girls - sounds like you guys are having wayyyy more fun than us. As everyone has said its cold here and it sucks! We went home to our parents for Thanksgiving - Lee was off so that was nice. Ate way too much turkey and way way too much pie - sorry! They have way more snow than Carlyle so I am trying not to complain too much!
ReplyDeleteHad our hockey meeting tonight for our ladies team - lots of girls signed up - we will see in a month if thats still the same! Lee is on nights tonight and I just about ready for bed! Keep on having a blast! We love to read your blog!
