How ya goin??? We are doing a little bit better, we’re only 3 days behind versus a full week! So back to Noosa for a moment to explain a few things. First off, we definitely hit the backpackers jackpot! We decided to venture out of the hostel scene for abit, we researched on the internet and found a townshouse for $27 a night. It was fully serviced with a private bath (tub and shower, we’ll have you know…with a blowdryer….yup, you heard it!!! A blowdryer…almost forgot what one was!), washer/dryer, t.v, full kitchen (with a dishwasher!!!!), basically a dream come true. So exciting, that we felt that we should full out live the dream…we decided to give Martha Stewart a run for her money and whipped a few deadly meals. The first night we had taco salad and veggies, then red pepper, feta, mushroom and garlic stuffed chicken breasts with salad and baked potatoes, the next night and lastly, Brit/Briana concocted the Tammy Dalziel world famous pizza!!! Oh not mention every morning started with coffee, the news (on our t.v!!!) with fresh mangoes and French toast!!!! Yup, told ya….LTMFD! Second event in Noosa…well this one is a doozy and has to be told for the humour value. It has in fact inspired a new rule or 2 ( to add to Lindsay Cochran’s rule list!!!) So…apparently, having clean feet for a backpacker is rare and often sought out. Taya’s strong drive and determination to prove that theory wrong went drastically down hill (which is an understatement.) While Brit & Briana enjoyed their beds with fresh linens and the soothing music from their ipods, Taya’s mission was aborted abruptly…she scrubbed the shit out of one foot and thought to herself…hmm…“I’m gonna let that soak for a bit, let’s move onto the other”, so confidently, she started to scrub the other while standing on one foot (stork like if you will!). Suddenly, she could feel one foot start to slip very similar to Bambi on ice, Brittany’s calm, reassuring voice popped into her head,”stay calm” and before she knew a smooth recovery and a “Thank you God”. Moments later, Bambi fell through the ice…hard and not gracefully for that matter! Taya was down…all the Brit & Briana could hear was laughter and her yelling for them to come. Brit opened the door to find Taya hiding behind a towel with the left side of her body covered in blood! Briana laughed, Brit fetched the first aid kit but Briana’s laughter quickly subsided after becoming squeamish while Taya was cutting off a flap of skin from her finger. So…
Rule #10- All showers must occur with the bathroom door unlocked at all times, a helmet, mouth guard, an emergency whistle with a first aid kit in the hands of at least 2 bystanders sitting outside the shower area is mandatory. The bystanders must be fully trained and familiar with the “distress” whistle tone.
Okay, now with that over and done with…back to the present. We are currently in Brisbane, We found a awesome hostel in Central Brisbane-YHA. This one is uber modern and much like a hotel. We have very limited time here so we jumped right into things. Last night we rode around on the river taxi along the Brisbane River to check out as much of the city as we could. This place is beautiful, the architecture and bridges are very modern and unique. This am, we were up at 5:30 to eat “brekkie” and hop onto another guided tour of Moreton Island. It was another full day that included sights of more shipwrecks, the Blue Lagoon, and more amazing landscapes with ridiculously high sanddunes … that we may have “sand boarded” down!!! ( basically, tobogganing face first on a waxed piece of particle board) It was a lot of fun the walk back up was definitely the deciding factor on how many times you wanted to have a go. We felt like camels walking through “the Desert” ( actually called this)…the sand was searing hot! We are fully aware that there may be some anger and hard feelings towards us as we are complaining about burning the soles of our feet while you are fighting frostbite. Don’t think we aren’t counting our lucky stars daily and think of you guys. Tomorrow, we are heading Steve Irwin’s “ Australia Zoo”….Crikey!!! It should be a lot of fun. Alright mates, we’re out! Heading to bed! Keep the posts coming!!! xoxo

Hi Girls. Geez Taya, you You survived earthquakes, scuba diving, skydiving & poisonous snake infested areas, not to forget the goat rodeo without any injuries, only to get half killed taking a shower. Well maybe over exaggerating a bit. You know there are some benefits to having filthy feet. The grit could provide you with some traction so that you won't slip in the shower, also it could provide you with some protection against burning your feet in the hot sand. Sometimes being squeaky ckean is over-rated. Well all of guys have been travelling- Melissa to Florida, Mel soon joining you, & you girls seeing the world. Wll not to be out-done, Dad & I are going to Minot for U.S. Thanksgiving. Our trip will take almost as much planning as yours- one has to know where the best sales are & hit them first so that things don't get picked over. haha. Not much new here . Oh did your suffer any other injuries in the shower outside of missing some skin & bleeding all over? Take care & love you Mom & Dad

ReplyDeleteOk, Lee wants me to tell you guys hi. He is jealous, but going to live the life of a star, going to Minneapolis (there is 5 of us trying to figure out how to spell it) to see Hana Montana, and go shopping. We are talking about how we miss going to Taya's house for coffee. In fact we are having a meeting about this subject, and only had 3 crying fits (mainly Greg). So we are living life through you guys, cause nothing really new. Greg is playing rec hockey for the cowboys this year, and being the good friends that we are we went to cheer him on....we were the only fans there :) Good times. Le''s first cougar game is on fri, but he is not here for it, but sun, he will be back, and ready to play.
ReplyDeleteTaya, I just wanted to add that since you have been gone, the door to the house has been locked, lenster has baked banana bread, and made an awesome ice cream pie. He is actually cooking, and sharing :)
Lee is pregnant, he wanted you to know. He needs a gym partner.
Greg says that coffee is not the same without you at Lennie's. Cherise is coming out tomorrow, and Maccee is super sick. I think that is all for now. Glad to see you guys are having a blast. miss you guys!
P.S. Greg and I went to the coffee shop.......and it was closed, I think it's a sign
ReplyDeleteTaunya
Thank you for the phone call girlies!! It was good to hear from you. I almost didn't pick up cause I thought you were a telemarketer! I don't think that I really got across to you how much I am suffering, though. It is colder than a witches titty here. The sun is gone, I don't know if it's in Australia but it's not here. I feel like I live in England but without any of the cool stuff. H1N1 has officially hit Melfort and they are dropping like flies. Your germaphobic sister is so far staying strong though. I go through a litre of hand sanitizer a day. My hands bleed when you look at them.
ReplyDeleteHa the other day our cleaner guy used dirty hands to open the garage door and the door to the office but it was too late and both the doors were closed so I was stuck in the garage. I considered staying until someone else opened the door. It's kind of like a game to not touch stuff. I wonder if you could use your elbows to push a shopping cart? I'll try next time.
I am done boot camp now. 6 weeks of biking and running in the snow, rain, and sleet. Getting screamed at to "get your butt in gear!!" All to lose 2.5 lbs. Priceless. F*@k.
Taya, I don't even know what to say. I am glad that you made a rule, though. A little after the fact but the effort was there. A whistle is a good idea. You should all get one and wear them around your necks at all times.
So anyways, you know how you started the 'feed Brittany' fund? I would like to start the 'get Lindsay out of this friggin frigid country' fund. I will take any donations, beggers can't be choosers.
Anyhoo, keep the blogs coming! They are the only thing that get me through these dark, depressing days. Sniff. I just imagine myself on those white sand beaches with raw, burning feet. Sniff. Sniff.
Linds (oh and Coop really was attacked by a coyote, and he had stitches in his head, dad. I would like to see you with stitches in your head, then we'll see who's the baby.)
That was not Greg it was me!! Friggin Greg using my computer..
ReplyDeleteHI LADIES!
ReplyDeleteSorry, long time since I have been on here, I do read them tho! But by the time I get to them everyone has already said everything I was gonna tell you!
So, if I make it through the night (and trust me, it doesn't look promising) me and Taunya and Gurry are gonna carve pumpkins tomorrow! I am super excited, I LOVE carving pupmkins! Greg has instructions to organize a Hazmat team to search my apartment if I do not show up....
Getting colder and colder here, there is no more green left :(.....but the exciting news is that I have been wearing my most favorite mukluks for about 3 weeks now!!
Work has been same ol, same ol, nothing real exciting for my shift, damn Lennie and Curtis are getting all the good ones! Curtis got his stork wings the other morning, blue ones. I was so jealous!!!!....haha Taya house #11 wants me to tell you that you are "one lucky girl" to be in Australia, "thats what I f#@*ing think" he says....it was pretty funny.
Hmmmmm, well I guess I am about tapped out of anything even half exciting to tell you guys...
Take care, keep your stick on the ice :)
Mac
I finally found the link!!!!...no help to anyone else...maybe taun...but just a little :)

Hopefully you guys can find a bar or something to catch this Canadian experience!ttyl love mom
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween girls! Sorry, but I thought I should let you know your baby guess was off - still waiting ... The Combines played Redvers last night in exhibition. They lost 7-4. I didn't go to the game, but I guess there were lots of fights and gongshowery. Anyways, I need to go buy some Halloween candy because I was hoping I wouldn't be home to need any!!! Take care!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! It doesn't even feel like Halloween. No pumpkin carving for this girl :( Although, Greg did invite me over to do some carving, but, I had to work! Darn! I work tonight, should be a gong show. I am dressing up as a Cowgirl. I know real original. So I finally heard news from the Cruise. Yay! I have to go get a medical done and they say I should be leaving fairly quickly. So, getting excited now!
ReplyDeleteI have been very busy at work, any day off I get called in. It's crazy everyone is sick around here. That's all I have to say right now. Other than - I missed the Olympic thing too, not even sure what mom and dad are talking about, ha ha! I guess I better start watching the news.
Talk to you soon! Miss you!
Chelsea
Gongshowery tee hee I like it. Happy Halloween! I also bought no candy cause last year we didn't have any kids, so I will be sitting in the dark this evening. Had a pumpkin carving party last night with the girls. Mine was a headless cheerleader! Spooky!
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, you should write on here that would be good. Get your asses off the beach and do something.
Happy Halloween!!
