G'day Mate! So we officially made it to Australia...Darwin to be exact! ( the place where the movie, Australia was filmed!!!! No big deal...we thought saw lil creamy on a walk about when we were landing!!!) We are sitting in the airport for 3 hours before we catch our flight to Cairns. Our first experience consists of a beautifully, clean airport....with no smells! yay! but also comes with a fee...one that blows us away considering Indo is so cheap. The 3 of us just paid what we would have paid for 3 meals/day for 3 days for all us...just in a breakfast here- 3 cappucinos, and 3 breakfast muffins! We have all agreed that sacrificing meals in exchange for sightseeing and activities is obviously how we're gonna roll! This is RIDIC!!! Micky, keep an eye on Briana's account...your joint retirement fund is dwindling away as we speak. Don't blame us...we are incredibly entertained by the local "sights" that continuously seem to catch our eyes...weird! We have our own mission!!! lol. Another shocker, but a bit on the down side, but we feel like we need to mention it. We are so fortunate to be safe and protected from the tragedy that just struck Indonesia. Reality hit when we saw headlines on the Aus paper reading about the earthquake/tsunami that took the lives of so many people. Weird to think, we were in Indonesia for 18 days and 2 earthquakes along with one tsunami occurred....we are very thankful.
To recap very briefly, we travelled from Ubud to a northern beach town, Lovina. We stayed one night in a very Luxe ocean front cottage for $25 incl. breakfast. Indo has proven that not everything is perfect...close...but a 2" cockroach scurrying along the bed reminds us that nothing is perfect and always good for laugh...imagine Taya & Briana chasing it down with a cup while Britt gave herself a warm lil hug in the middle of the bed....with an awkward grin....trying to be team player!!!haha! Then headed back to Legian to our haven, The Island- our Bali family met us at the door with open arms and excitement seeing familiar faces! The amazing people that we have met along the way has made it incredibly difficult to leave Bali and gives us one more reason to re-visit. We want to give a shout out to Charlie, Rich, Neil, Amie and the rest of the crew for taking us under your wings and making us feel comfortable and at home...maybe a little too comfortable but we really do appreciate it...Canada is calling you!!!! And to our new besties- C-Rad & Patty...do you miss us??? We still have our bracelets, do you? Too soon? 10-12!!! haha. Can't wait to meet up in Sydney...get your game faces on, cause we comin' at ya like spider monkeys!!! Anywho...gonna go sleep on a bench, will talk soon. Please send money!
xoxo...for real....money, money,money.......lol! Talk soon.

Hey guys, so glad you made it to Australia safe and sound. It is a relief for everyone that you are out of earthquake territory.
ReplyDeleteAnd so yeah, you're gonna have to go bark up another money tree 'cause I'm tapped out. You guys may have to (gasp.. double gulp..) get a
j-o-b... I've heard that you can work at banana plantations with tarantulas the size of Stanley. Actually, come to think of it this is a great idea. You guys can face your fears of large, terrifying insects, still get a tan, and eat for free. You like banana's right?? You could also sheer sheep, ahh I am laughing just picturing it. Briana would be using hairspray and Brittany would want to blow dry and brush them after. tee hee. Enjoy your time there, and take tons of pictures.
If you need any other advice about careers/money while you are away let me know!!
Love,
Linds and the three amigos (they say hi, well kind of.. Izzy snorted. Don't take it personal, you know Iz.)
Here you go mom, hi mom. (Lila has been harassing me to write something on your blog) It's not like I don't care but no real big news on my end. I am glad to hear things are good and that you are out of the earthquake danger zone. Maybe I can rest easy now, haha or at least I won't be getting calls before work seeing if you guys had texted me....then the "are you guys alive" text comes your way. I am suppose to start my new job next Wednesday....yeah I will have something to do besides doing my daily walkabouts and visits. Brit, Tammy says hi and she hopes you are having a good time. Since she is "80 year in a 29 year body" and doesn't have email I said I would pass the word on. I had a massage from her last night and it was great the only thing I can complain about is she bruised my Gluteus maximus, yikes it isn't a pretty sight. The probability of me meeting you in NZ is 95%. I just have to see how long I take and what the flights look like for me to come back. Everyday I am thinking about it and getting more and more excited. So hopefully I can get everything planned before Oneil leaves so I can meet with guys at the same time. I will keep you updated. I just got my schedule and I finally got the okay that I could have the time off yesterday so a planning I will go. Better get to bed since some of us have to get up early to go to work(some of us have to work for a living.
ReplyDeleteOn another note Taya not sure if you can get a chance but Pandora has wood beads and I was wondering if you could pick me one up any colour. They are only available Australia or NZ.
Have a good time in Australia.
Mel
By the way did you guys see Hal and Joanne in Bali. If they are still travelling with you guys say hi to them and thank them for the excellent tips.
